John Deere AOS Clutch

Having a time with my AOS clutch. Just got the tractor. Clutch wont stay locked in. I had new dog pins made to fit the dogs tight, as the old ones were worn and sloppy. I installed new friction discs and a NOS clutch fork since the old one was shot. All the slop is gone now. But I still have minimal travel with the clutch and it seems like it wont 'lock over center' like a conventional A or B type clutch. I can hold forward (up) on the clutch lever and can engage it to make the tractor move but it wont stay locked in. None of it feels like what I'm used to in a john deere, but since these are so different, I don't know what to compare it to. Does anyone have any experience on the AOS clutch assembly that may have some tricks or tips for me? I'd really like an AOS Service Manual but I can't find one for sale anywhere...Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

If it will move, but won't stay locked in, it might
be that the adjustment nuts are too tight. That's
where I would start looking. Try backing them off
one castellation at a time on each nut and see what happens.

I've been all through the basic clutch adjustments. The problem I believe, are that the clutch dogs are worn. Whats bad is that they are nothing like what is in a typical A or B. The part number is A1644R and I can't find them anywhere. I wonder if someone out there re-works old ones to their original profile -if that measurement is even known. I've got quite a quandary on my hands with this one.
