I've started a new project 41 A I need to put new clutch disk in fan. I can't seem to compress spring enough to remove the half moon clips. I removed the governor gear thinking I could pull whole shaft. I can't get bearing out of housing. Pretty much stuck on both ends. Help please

"I removed the governor gear thinking I could pull whole shaft."

NOT sure what you mean by that... do you have the complete fanshaft/vent pump already removed from the governor or have you removed the bolts/nuts and it won't come out?

I removed the whole fan shaft from tractor its laying on the bench.... Vent pump and all. Thinking that would be easier to work on that way. When I couldn't get spring compressed enough to remove half moons I thought I could take it apart from other end (governor) my parts book shows that the housing on that comes off

41A doesn't have a vent pump. I usually put the gear end on a 2x4 and drive the keepers down with a socket and 3 lb hammer. The service manual shows putting the fanshaft next to a vise and sticing 2 bars across the fan while the end of the bars are in the vice and then puting down pressure on the fan.

Have you removed the snap ring that tucks into the gear and removed the gear?

As to the keepers at the fan, a LARGE valve spring compressor can be used to compress the spring and allow the keepers to be removes.

Yes I have snap ring and gear off.

I will try to compress spring as suggested and see if I can get keepers out. Thank you for suggestions
