The other day I was boring out one of my cylinders on my 8n and I ended up boring it big, and now my .90 oversize sleeve will not fit. I was just wanting to know if anybody else had ever done this before and if so could give me pointers as to what they did to make it work and what would you recommend if it cant be fixed.

You may get an insight into your question in the archives of the 9n 2n 8n. In archives type in MERCURY PISTONS when prompted in the key word such.

Get a repair sleeve. Mike it in 9 different places & average the readings. Bore the block for a good press fit. About .0035. Install the sleeve & trim the top. Then bore it for the .090 sleeve. When making the last cut, I bore just enough to be able to mike it before going all the way.

Sealed Power list a sleeve that is 3.377 inch OD.
That is .093 wall thickness. Part # SL140M.
Might work. How big a hole did you make??

Ill have to look into that, I was boring it out to the .090 oversized sleeve which the OD is 3.373, and right now around .012 over. The other problem that I am facing is that the cylinder that I am boring out has a hole in the cylinder wall.

I have never had to do it but probably what Teddy said. Other people have gotten by with hole in hole in side of cyl. by sealing with sleeve locker.
