I have a 1952 8n and it has run great for several years. Now it developed a problem. When I start it; it starts right up and idles fine. When I put a load on it like pushing some dirt with the blade it dies and has no power. It would remind me of an old car that the vacuum advance is bad. But this dist. has no vacuum advance. I put new points and condensor in. Still the same response. Thank You for any help.

Sounds like there may be a fuel flow restriction at one or more of the 3 screens in the system, or in the carburetor.

Also, there is a mechanical spark advance mechanism in the distributor that could be stuck.

For the most responses, re-post over at the "N" Forum.

Choking it hurt or helps?? When was the last time you serviced the air cleaner and dumped the mud and water out and put in new oil

ditto what's been said.

could be lean. could have no advance.

might be running on 2-3 cyls too.

pull 1 at a time to check to see if it makes the same difference on each.
