John Deere 302A Fan Belt Replacement

Fan belt went south. This looks like it could be complicated? Anyone familiar with this. It has a HD loader and a Hydro Pump in front of engine.

Help!

It's just an aluminum clamp. Two halves held
together with two 3/8" bolts. Comes apart and off
pretty easy. You ought to renew the plastic
bushings while apart. There are four of them.
Cheap investment.

Went to dealership and as you suggested, purchased the four rubber bushings.

At some point, a radiator shroud was replaced with a non OEM unit. A large piece of this was cut out to allow for the alternator.

This was blocking access to the coupler. Removed with saws-all.
Can access now. Will try to complete this in the morning.

Thanks to all that responded.

We are not done yet. It appears there are three different pump and couplers on these. It looks like the coupler I have is the "odd-ball." The other two appear the same for the most part. They have the aluminum two piece as discussed above.

Two bolts that peak out just past the engine pully/coupler assembly. Looking at a Deere Parts diagram online, it appears the coupler has disks that sandwich together behind the bolts toward engine.

Wonder if loosening the two bolts, there is enough play to do this. Looks like the plates might just drop out?

Anybody out there familiar with this type?

Thx,

LN

I just became aware of a "Link Belt." Are these available for this size? Do they work? Anyone know where to get one? I sure like the idea.

Remove the 2 bolts (key #6) that go into the aluminum plate. Then turn the pump shaft 90 degrees and you should be able to get the belt past. Not a bad job.

Thank You. Without that bit of information, might have ended up another futile attempt, frustration, time and money lost.

Job complete! Friend of mine showed up from the Marine Corp, and we got it.

It was still very tight to get the belt between the pulley and frame but after some persuasion, it went. Runs good!

Thank you. (typo corrected)
