8 N Ford won't fire

Was backfiring badly when we shut it off last winter, put in a new distributor and coil this summer but can't get it to fire at all, even with starter fluid. It is cranking good....I use it to grade my 1.7 miles of private road each fall after the summer monsoons and am really lost without it...

Use a volt meter to see if you have battery voltage at your coil during cranking. Did you note where your rotor was pointing when you pulled the distributor? You need to bring No1 piston near the radiator to tdc on the compression stroke. Then see where your rotor is pointing. Should be at the number one plug tower on your distributor cap. If it's off you need to
pull the distributor and rotate the rotor so it points to the No1 plug tower. Check your point gap should be set at .015" when rubbing block is on lobe. Hal

My Ignition Troubleshooting Procedure is linked below, however I'm NOT a Ford man and have no idea which components and what places and terminals you may or may not be able to get at for testing so NO WARRANTY...
