Im helping a friend of mine replace the gears in his AC D14.
He ordered the new 3rd gear, and the other one thats right next to it.
We are using the old collar that was in the transmission, but it doesn't slide through the gears real smooth, like the old one. I know theres wear on the old one, so I tried a file and emery cloth, to round off any burrs or sharp edges on the gears, but neither one hardly touches it.
I'm thinking of using a dremmel tool, with a carbide bit, to soften the edges.
I assembled the thing with the way the gears were, but I can't get it to shift into gears. So I have to disassemble it and do the work.
Also, I am wondering if anyone has an exploded diagram of the transmission. I have a slider for rear gear in the trans, that one of the shifter yolks slides into. The groove for the slider is offset, and my book doesn't show good enough, which way it goes. Or if someone has a picture of the inside gears, I can compare to.
I would appreciate any help here.
