MF35 Gas Will Not Start

I inherited a MF35 4 cyl gas tractor. I had it completely tuned up and it ran great but I found a hole in the gas tank so I removed the gas tank and replaced it with a new one. During this time, it was not started for a few months. I now have the new gas tank on but it will not start. It turns over great but doesn't start. The plugs and everything should be new from having it tuned up a few months ago. It has only been run for a few minutes (less than an hour) since the tune up. Can someone help me with starting tips?

Pull the drain plug in the bottom of the carb, see if fuel comes out. If not could be a stuck needle valve, clogged separator screen, some have a screen at the fitting going into the carb.

Hopefully Steve's advice fixes it, I m not a mechanic. My case 930, if I leave it sit awhile, I have to use a finger nail file board on the points, I run it thru the points a few times it fires right right up, good luck

any time you have a gasser that has sat and won't start.. check spark first.. many time the points corode!

if it has spark.. move on to fuel. a can of start fluid on a gasser is a good test for fuel, because if you have spark, and no fuel, but will start and run on start fluid.. then you know it's a fuel issue.

save the fingernail file.. it will ruin the points.. you'll be filing them often once the hard coating is removed.

a breaker hone is the most i'd do..and even then you have to go thru square and only a swipe or 2.. other good cleaners are coars brown grocery sack paper.. or even typing paper. use a non oily cleaner like alcohol or brake / carb cleaner.. etc.

SouNdguy thats for the info . I paid a tractor mechanic $200 to learn that trick. 930 wouldnt start . He checked a couple things took out the file clean the points . She fired right up. Set the timing by ear & made a adjustment on the carb. Total $200.
