10 hp Kohler ignition

Thanks for all the previous help with the Peerless transaxle, works well now. But can anyone tell me if our 1968 Town and Country has ignition points under the flywheel? Engine will not start and has a very weak spark. Going to replace the coil in the meantime. thanks again!

If there is a wire from the coil going under the flywheel, there will be points under there. Don't confuse the wire with the kill wire though.

But, got to thinking, didn't the old Kohlers with points have them under a cover on the side of the block?

Been a few years...

It's possible your Kohler has solid state ignition. No points. I have a couple of solid state ignitions for the 8 hp. If I just knew where I put them.

If it has points they will be under a tin cover on the lower frt. of engine. I've got a 14 horse Kohler out of about a 1970 Wheel Horse with electronic solid state ign., has a funny looking coil and the trigger under the flywheel.

Yes. Mag COIL is under flywheel, but points on side of engine, just like the Kettering ignition engines.
