Three Point Hitch Pulsing

Hello all,

The three point hitch on my Deere is pulsing when there is weight on the arms and it is not in the full down position. It typically happens about 2 Hz when the ROD valve in a normal position. Much slower (1/4 Hz) when the ROD is fully closed. I've replaced the seals on the ROD valve, cylinder cover, cylinder and rockshaft control valve (external to the RCV, not internal). I've also installed a new cylinder relief valve. There has been no change in behavior. There are no external hydraulic leaks. It seems like the RCV is the only point left in the system that hasn't been changed. Would this typically be the culprit for this type of behavior?

This isn't an antique tractor, but this forum was recommended for the experience of its users in tractor repair.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

typically hunting or pulsing in a lift circuit where a control linkage misadjustment is not causing an oscilation, is usually from internal leakdown and circuit regeneration.

piston to bore fit/leakage is always a place to look, but by no means the only place.

( control valving, relief, gasket and oring ont he high pressure side, bad check valve.. etc.. )

Soundguy,

Thanks for the tips. I've pulled the cylinder and put a new seal in. There were no fit issues with it. I have a system diagram for the rockshaft system. Based on what I've already replaced, I'm thinking it's within the RCV. The RCV on this tractor is considered "unserviceable" by Deere, so I have to order a new one. Maybe I can get the old one rebuilt by a hydraulic shop and have a backup on hand in case this happens again. I'll let you know if the new valve fixes the problem. It won't arrive until Tuesday.

All,

Installed the new Rockshaft Control Valve today.
Problem solved! Thanks for the
help/pointers/guidance.

Not sure if my reply made it the other day. I was able to install a new RCV on Friday night and all's well. No more issues. Thanks for the help!
