john deere sheet metal fit

I"ve been working on a 1947 John Deere B, serial # 202247 for nearly a year. I have massive hours in repairing, welding, pounding out dents, grinding, and using body putty to smooth out the wrinkles before primer and paint. I am now putting the tractor back together and the sheet metal parts no longer fit together??? I know I should have don"t a fit before I painted anything but I didn"t. So now what? Can anyone give me some ideas? it"s mostly where the main part of the hood meets the right and left grills. I was hoping to have it done for Labor Day Antique Tractor Show at West liberty, Ohio.

ASSUMING you have not completely mangled the sheet metal, it SHOULD fit, within reason. There is some adjustment by loosening the back hood support from the governor housing or shifter quadrant, or shimming with some washers (sorry, that is the generic version, as I can't exactly picture the exact tractor you are working on).

I cannot explain without pictures and I can't figure out how to put pictures on here. if you can imagine the seams above and below where the Decals are, then forward to where the corner screens mate to those seams. Those seams on the corner screens are about an 1/8" above the seams on the main hood piece. Above those two seams where the two pieces fit together there is a gap. seems like I could pull the corner screen piece down which would align the seams and close the gap but I cannot. I have this problem on both sides.
If someone can explain how to post pictures I will do that.
Thanks so much, Bob

I uploaded several pictures. Don't know why they are sideways? However you can see my problem.

More information - The main hood had a square cut out at the muffler hole. I welded in a patch. Was proud of the job I did until I put it on the tractor. The front (narrow part) went uphill. I got it down but buckled the left side and will have to repair that. I am capable of this.

I still can't figure out what to do about the front screen parts not fitting to the main hood. please help me.
Thanks,
Bob

looks like you may need tp trim off some of the grille where it goes under the hood and elongate the hole in top to pull it down. not going to be perfect.

saved them to my desktop and then right clicked on them and used the drop down menu to rotate them. Might be an easier way but that"s how I did it. Bill
