Case 580CK starter

I have a 1967 Case 580CK loader/backhoe with a starter that just won't spin. I've bench tested it (shorted across the Solenoid, etc.) and still nothing. I tested the armature and it tests okay per usual method (commutator to commutator, commutator to armature, etc.). Actually bought a new solenoid but that didn't help (didn't think it would). What's next??

heck your solenoid. On my 580B the rubber seal has gotten pinched and oil has gotten in it to the point where it refused to work. A new solenoid or taking it apart and cleaning it is LOTS cheaper than a new starter. While you have it apart, you might want to turn the copper lugs so the magnet has a nice new shiny spot to contact. Just my thoughts, I hope it works for you as it has for me. Keith
