IH Industrial tractor model 3444

I"m thinking of buying a model 3444 IH Industrial model tractor that was set up originally with a bucket and a backhoe. During it"s lifetime somebody did away with the backhoe and filled the large hydraulic tank with concrete for use as a counterweight. It has no Rear PTO drive shaft or 3 pt hitch equipment. It"s a 4 cyl gas 43.5 hp. My 2 questions are:
1. Can i convert that back to a 3 pt. hitch? and where can i find parts?
2. It hasn"t run in 10 years but isn"t stuck and the water has been all drained out. Is it worth messing with to restore it to a usable condition for the $700 asking price? I Need a tractor bad and this is all i can afford on VA disability. Thanks guys

I guess it depends on what you need a tractor for? I just sold a good running Case VAC, wide front, non-live PTO, live hydraulics, with three-point-hitch for $850. I suspect there are others in good running shape in that price range.

3444 isn't much different then my 3414. British engine. Most parts available but I doubt cheap. Yellow equivalent (more or less) to the ag B275, B414, etc.

Yea i heard it was very similar to the 3414. I Need a bucket tractor to load and move/turn soil and mulch that i mix. But i need the Live PTO and 3 pt hitch to run a bush hog and 6 foot tiller. How much trouble would it be to install that drive spline/shaft in the rear case, and rig a 3pt onto it. All the holes are there but no lift arm set up. I'm guessing it will have to have an external Hydraulic lift set up of some kind if there is such a thing. I Think this tractor is worth saving and at 43 hp has good power.

That's a 36 max horse tractor unless it has some engine I'm not privy too. Should be a BC144 gas or a BD154 diesel - both British engines. I use my B275 to run a 5 foot rear tiller and a 5 foot rear snow-blower. That's with the BD-144 diesel engine. My 3414 has the BC-144 gas engine with a little more power then the diesel. Problem with trying to add all that stuff to the 3444 is the price of used parts makes the job more then it's worth. That is . . unless you can get a good parts tractor for a very low price. I'd assume you could find a running loader tractor for $2000 somewhere. With live power and hi-low range trans- make that $3000 or more.

Well i geuss till i can find some parts and pieces i could just use it for a loader. I Can't go too wrong with the low $700 price. Thanks
