carb problems on a jubilee

so i have a 1956 ford 650 with the same exact engine and carb as the better known jubilee. it is thursday today and this tractor is leaving sunday morning to fair and i can't for the life of me get it to run! it ran before i realized there was no oil pressure, so i pulled the distributor and ran the oil pump off a drill untill it got pressure, put the distributor back on, re timed it, and now it backfires through the carb with any more than half choke. i at first set it to 8 degrees BTDC but it seems to try to run the most at 5. the carb is rebuilt, and both the idle mixture and main mixture screws are at 2 turns out. the float is adjusted properly too. please help!

Your 180 off so just swap the plug wires across the cap and I bet it starts right up.
