JD 4430 hydraulic pump

I have a 4430 that hydraulics would get weak on after it runs for few minutes. I cleaned the screen and it was pretty filthy. It didn"t help much...is there another screen in the main hydraulic pump? If so, how hard is it to get out and clean? Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

How many hours on it ? Hydraulic pumps, and motors do wear out !

It says right in the owners manual for a Char-Lynn
2000 series motor that "Average life is 2000 hours"

Did you clean the screen that is crosswise, low down, ahead of the rear axle (that requires draining of the rear end) AND change the cartridge hydraulic filter?

That hydraulic system is more complicated than you may realize... a gear pump in the rear end pumps oil forward to a closed-center radial piston pump.

If troubleshooting is needed, you REALLY need a factory service manual and a flow rater.

That being said, there IS a tiny filter/screen in the hydraulic pump. (Key # 17)

Also, I should have added that finding a lot of debris in the sump screen is often an indicator of the brake pads having disintegrated.

If that is the case, NOT GOOD because the brakes then are metal-on-metal, and if you continue to operate it, puts filings through the transmission, final drives, and hydraulic system.
