Rear rim repair on a 50 Deere

Have a chance to buy a 50 that has sat in the same place for 20-25 years.

At least 1 rim is rotted in a 3" patch where it makes ground contact. Might be both, but acacia tree and yellow jacket nest precluded looking last night.

I have a Farmall H patched in the same style, right around valve stem. Doesn't look like it would be too hard to do. This is in N. Texas, so there won't be any water or salt damage to the rim as there would be farther north.

I'm going to have to remove the rear cultivators, jack each wheel in about 4-5 ", and work it up on the trailer with a come-along. The tractor does not appear to be in bad shape other than very awkward to get home. Looks like the cult. was set for 40" rows, which makes outside wheel width 90".

In 30 days, I'm pretty much the only one that called about this tractor, which is either very good or very bad. 8) The pictures were really bad. I can get him for just over scrap price. I just hate to see one that is this complete go to the scrappers. It even had the JD flywheel wrench in the toolbox.

I don't know if the motor is stuck or not, and don't want to even try it til I get it home.

Go for it. Even if its not salvageable it will part out for more than
scrap but I'd rather see one run myself. If you can weld grind and have alot of patience you can fix a rim
