Very Pleased with Tachometer Restoration Service

As part of my recently completed restoration on my Farmall 240 tractor I received my restored and refreshed tachometer back from Metro Speedometer Electric in Independence, Missouri today. I originally learned of them through their advertisement in Red Power Magazine. After the tractor was completed the tachometer was definitely an item still requiring attention. It was back in about two weeks from when I shipped it to them and it came back looking like a new one would have appeared in 1958 when the tractor was built. New glass, new faceplate, new bezel and a fresh coat of red paint on the case. I think they performed an exceptional refresh to this original tachometer and very pleased with their service. If additional information is desired my email is open, Hal.

Never had an instrument restored, I've heard they can do some amazing things with them. Wondering how the cost compares to a new factory unit?

As you probably know the tachometer on a Farmall 240 is the type driven by a cable from the distributor and not the later digital or electronic ones on more modern tractors. The replacement with a "new factory unit" is not an option as they are no longer available. What is available are ones produced in a third world country which usually have a very limited functional life due to inferior materials and workmanship. I think the refurbishment of the original tachometer is far superior to one of the replacement ones. The cost for mine was $205 which I think covers most of them. When I first contacted them they indicated that those of certain makes of tractors are very limited in what if any parts are still available for required necessary repairs. HTH, Hal
