A/C Compressor For 4430 JD

It's an A6 Frigidaire/GM/Delco compressor that was used on hundreds of thousands of GM cars "back in the day", NO rocket surgery needed here, 'cept it has a fairly large pulley/clutch.

Has it been converted to R134, or will you be doing that? (The oil used will depend upon the choice of refrigerant.)

ANY auto parts store can sell you a replacement from Four Seasons, or whatever brand of A/C stuff they handle for a LOT less than DEERE.

Not to mention all sorts of sources on the 'net.

DEERE/A&I will sell you an update kit to an aluminum compressor from the "far east", as well.

You just gotta find a competent counter person, or do a little research on your own to find a part number they can deal with.

HINT...

Here's some cross-reference numbers.. you should be able to find a warranted unit from a reputable supplier for less than $200.00.

I have done a.c. repair on a few thousand 30 and 40 series deere at this . Point. A few things. Did the compressor hand grenade, is it leaking or is the clutch out of it? If it hand grenaded there's gonna be metal throughout the system and require flushing. If its the other two parts are available to repair it. Not somthing I do because of shop rate. If your doing it yourself its not that big of a deal just time consuming. The system is going to need vacuumed and it is going to require a receiver drier and a new expansion valve if you replace the compressor. If it simply won't build pressure other is more than likely the expansion valve. The conversion kit from the far east as it was put is the best way to go have some with 6000 hours on them with no problems. The a6 that it has now was designed for a12 lb system. A 4430 holds 3.14 if memory serves. Not enough for the compressor. They dont last.
