Farmall A Rear Axle

I am trying to stop an oil leak on a Farmall A. On
the axle housing that attaches to the transmission
it leaks out the bottom of the housing. On the
tube side of axle to the transmission it seems to
be coming out of a weep hole at the bottom. My dad
was a tractor mechanic and passed 3 years ago and
I don't know who to ask. I didn't know if I needed
to split it and change gaskets or if I was
overfilling with oil. I am concerned because it
sounds as if my transmission don't have oil on my
gears and when it heats up it runs out.

There is an oil seal that needs to be changed. Its a fair amount of work as the wheel has to come off and you need equipment to hold the tractor with the wheel off one side. My A has a fair amount of transmission noise and I'm thinking that is the way they were.Others many know better.

I filled it with oil before I started tearing it apart. I am ready to seperate the axle on the short side. I got it on dowels and a lift just lack a few more bolts. The oil I put in it all dripped out so I have to do something.
