It's a dilemma, I fought one several hours till I got it lined up. BFH and lots of pounding. I chained the blades so the shaft couldn't move and used a 24" pipe wrench. Very frustrating.
I was telling my sad story to one of my buddies and his technique is to chain the blades, engage PTO till it wears enough to line it up by hand. IF your using the correct shear bolt it should be softer than the metal in the drive line.
I have fire ants and their mounds can get hard as rocks. I got tired of changing pins and went to a slip clutch.
