Farmall M 3 pt hitch setup

Help....I just put a 3 pt hitch on my Farmall M. It has two lifting cylinders. I checked my manual and it said to use the front output elbow on the left side(there are two on that side) for one of the cylinders and the other cylinder goes to the right side output. On my M the right side output has a "T" with one side of the "T" plugged and the other side of the "T" going up to another control valve. I took the plug out of that "T" and hooked up the lifting cylinder to the "T" Just turning on the HYD. pump won't lift the 3 pt hitch but using the other valve will lift it pulling back on the valve lever, releasing the lever to the center the 3 pt goes down and pushing to lever forward the 3 pt goes up too. I tried just unhooking that control valve and using one output elbow on each side of my tractor and turning on the Hyd. pump the 3 pt goes up and stays up but won't come down and I think if I keep going up it would blow a hose! Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong ???

Farmalls around here using single action. Use only
one hose from the left side. Then "T" it off to both
cylinders. The hoses connect to the bottom of the
cylinders and the top must have a vent to let air in
and out.
