4500 Ford backhoe hydraulic swing arm hookups

I have no stinking clue where to start with this!!! My dad has replaced the hydraulic pump on his 4500 ford backhoe. Everything is working fine on it except for the swing arm. It won't move from from left to right but moves up, down and swings out.. Any ideas on what in the heck is wrong? If I can get some kind of suggestions he will be able to read them and go from there... Just gotta get him started somewhere. Everything seems to be computerized these days and hard to find a manual for older models.... Thank you in advance!!!!

Might have air in the hyd system.....usually operating will purge it out.....just keep operating levers for a while, look for some movement. google "jensales" for a manual- they had one for my 4500 years ago. Not the clearest repro pics tho.

k thank u very much! I certainly hope that's all it is.. It has been a pain in the butt to deal with removing the boom to begin with and then reattaching but im honestly worried that hes gotten a couple hoses backwards or something. Lord knows I don't want him to have to take that thing back apart to swap around hoses. Praying for easier fix!
