JD300D backhoe/loader brakes

I just bought a JD300D backhoe/loader. It works great but in order to stop I have to press the brake pedal really hard. Is there an adjustment to help this? If so, how do I fix it?

Only if the pedal is going all the way down against the stop will adjusting help. Otherwise it's oil soaked shoes.

I think those are hydraulically activated wet brakes aren't they. There should be a bleeder on top of the axle. If the pedal isn't going all the way down then the discs are probably shot.
