8N charging issue?

I keep having to jump my 1950 8N. The igniton system is all new, and the battery is only 6 months old. It will run when I jump it then when I try to restart it the starter just clicks and I can hear it spinning. What is the culprit? Alternator, starter short, or battery? Thanks

Need to run some diagnostics to determine the problem.

First, can rule out the starter because it will jump.

Next, check all the obvious, like loose/dirty connections or loose belt.

Start the engine and idle it up. Check the voltage across the battery, it should be at least 13.5v, up to 15v. If not, the system is not charging. Check the wiring before blaming the alternator.

With the ignition off, and some charge on the battery, disconnect one battery cable and connect a test light between the cable and the battery post. The light should not light. If it does, there is a drain on the battery. Start disconnecting wires until the light goes out (start with the alternator).

Last, there is always a possibility the battery is defective, but not likely.
