Help Needed - Guide Light Retaining Ring Installation.

Having trouble getting the retaining rings back on the light housings when reinstalling the sealed beam bulbs. I first tried installing the bulbs which I removed from the Farmall 240 restoration I have been working on. When I couldn't get those bulbs and the retaining ring to seat in the groove on the housing I tried some newer GE made bulbs which I couldn't get installed either. The first ones were Phillips. After trying for a couple of hours I decided to wait until I had another pair of hands available which might be helpful.
Is there something I'm missing here or is it just a very tight fit with the Guide lights as the rear light is a Dietz brand combination rear and tail light which went back together without any difficulty. Would appreciate any clues as to the key in getting the Guide lights back together as nothing was done to the metal parts except cleaning and repainting (no sheet metal rework was required on the housings or rings). Thanks for any comments or suggestions to assist with this task, Hal.

I remember having problems with one due to a little projection that the bulb had. I think that I cut a notch for it in the housing.

Thanks for the response but it appears it just took one person to hold the sealed beam in place while another installed the retaining ring. Once I had another person to assist it went fine without anything having to be modified, Hal.
