Electric Fuel Pump for 235

1959 Viking

New User
I want to put an electric fuel pump on my 1959 4100 flatbed Viking with a 235 engine. Doe anyone know the proper pump (psi?) to use? Thanks

I believe the original stovebolt fuel pressure "spec" was 3.5 PSI, so chose an low-pressure electric pump not too much over that.

Might want to tell me to MYOB, but why put an
electric pump on?

I'v seen it done, and also seen the results of
leaky aftermarket pumps, a pump running when the
engine is not, as in the ignition left on and the
crankcase filled with fuel, fuel pumped out on a
hot manifold, even worse...

Modern engines have the proper controls to prevent
this. Unless you're controling the pump with this
circuity, could be asking for trouble!

I agree with you that a circuit to shut it down if the engine stalls is a good idea. It's not rocket surgery to install a simple oil pressure switch circuit..

Many new generic pumps come with a wiring diagram and parts list that makes installing such a system as easy as possible..

Steve, you have a good point. I might just consider replacing the mechanical pump to avoid any problems. Thaks for the advice.
