Hi
Had some help here before and hope u can help again ..I bought an old 1952 ferguson and not realizing until I got home and run it for awhile that the block was cracked ..Someone had welded it but it still leaks ..I have had good luck with j b weld before and I was thinking of grinding off the old weld and using jb ..I know that u can buy stuff that goes in the rad that is suppose to stop it but I have more faith in jb ..
Whats your guys opinion on this?

I've had good success with JB Weld on block cracks. Look close, pressure it up if you can, see exactly where it is leaking, then V out the area with a Dremmel or grinder, drain it, dry it out good with a torch or heat gun, mash the JB into the crack and bring it up level with the surface.

I've always used the original formula slow set... Just because that's what I've used, nothing against the other products, just haven't tried them.

A friend of mine repaired an oil leak on a Diesel, block cracked from inside? That way when he got it... Tried the new JB stick type, comes in a roll with the hardner inside, you pinch it off and mash it to start the reaction. It didn't work! Didn't set up. Called them (yes, you can actually call and talk to a real person!) Said it was too cold, probably in the 50's. He cleaned it out and went back with the original, so far it's holding.

A better fix would be to weld it with a mig welder first and then
use jb weld to seal up any pin holes. I have found that a mig
does a lot better than a stick on cast.

I have used this product with good results back when we were dirt track racing.

You'll have to copy & paste, I still haven't figured out how to insert a url on this site.
If you try it, be sure to follow the instructions [b:a4281753be]exactly[/b:a4281753be] or it won't work. Flush thoroughly, run the motor at least an hour (you may have to stop it to add some more water if the leak is really bad), drain and leave the system open for a day. They say 12 hours, but we had better success with 24 hours.
It's not very expensive, isn't that much work, and it won't hurt anything if you have to use another method of repair.
Good luck,
