Broken Fuel Injection Pump

I have a Chamberlain 9G tractor - an Australian made tractor from the 1960s. It has a 4-cyl Perkins motor.
I've had problems with air getting into the fuel lines, it was stopping after 5-10 minutes running. In attempting to fix this I think I've busted the fuel injection pump by blowing air into the line that goes from the hand pump to the injection pump. I had the idea that there was some blockage inside that i could shift. Also i think there was fuel coming out of the gasket seal when i did this.
Today I managed to get the air out of the fuel line, filling up the fuel filter and injection pump, and there didn't appear to be any leaks coming out , but still it wouldn't fire up.
My only guess is that I've busted something in the injection pump.
I think the injection pump has been serviced since the tractor was built. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums Chamberlain. You can improve your liklihood of getting help by stating why you "think" you busted it, why you had the idea that there was a blockage, why you think that there was fuel coming out the gasket, (which gasket?). In short reveal what you are seeing feeling hearing, rather than your interpretation.

Thanks for the welcome Showcrop. I'm very new to this so excuse my lack of knowledge.
I think I busted it because before this the tractor was starting with some ether sprayed into the air intake if it hadn't been started recently.
I had the idea there was a blockage because it had happened before - I'd blown the line coming out of fuel tank - so just tried this in desparation to get it going.
The gasket i meant is along the fuel injection pump -when i shot the air into it fuel came out in a line along it.
This pump is meant to be the one on the 9G but it doesnt look like the exact model mine has (I'll try to check what it is tomorrow):

I don't know that much about these. By "along the pump" do you perhaps mean where the upper part mates to the lower? One thing I do know about this sort of situation from my own experience is check and eliminate simple things first. One of my diesels was running poorly. I opened a fuel line connection just before the filters and fuel poured out, but slowed to just a drip after about five seconds. Be sure that you have a good flow of fuel to and out of the filters for at least twenty seconds. Don't blame your pump until you are sure that the fuel is getting to it.

Looks like the same engine as a Cockshutt 40 PD. Do you have the inline style pump or a distributor style?
