Having a problem with my tractor staying running. Cranks and sounds good but will choke down after a little while. Almost like it runs out of gas for a bit. Back when I was putting in food plots I ran it for a few hours and it started acting like it was loosing power. I replaced the sparks plugs and it seems to run better but now seems to choke down after a few mins of running. Any ideas?

If you suspect lack of fuel, pull the drain plug on the carb and see if you get a sustained flow. It will first drain the bowl then the flow will slow, but should not stop or reduce to a drip.

If the flow is slow check the screen in the sediment bowl. While the bowl is off open the fuel valve and see if there is good flow from the tank.

If those check out, and still low flow, remove the carb and open the bowl. Check for debris in the float seat and incoming fittings. Check the float level.

Might want to to take a look at the points (if it still has them, hint, hint!) and check the wear in the distributor shaft, check the centrifugal weights to see if they're free and spring back when released.

Have you cleaned the inside of the air filter? As in removing it and thoroughly flushing and blowing out the horse-hair core. They get pretty nasty after a few years.

Hope this gives you a place to start! You'll get it going.
