Ok so now after thinking everything was ok with the spitting
thru the carb I discovered another mystery. It starts with no
hesitation at all, idles perfectly, when I give it a little gas it
dies? Checked the plugs and they are black sooty dry sooty
not wet. After researching what the issue could be I took the
carb off , took it completely apart, cleaned everything , made
sure all ports were free of any blockage, blew the carb out,
installed new gaskets and it runs the same. Keep in mind this
carb I found on ebay, it looked similar to the one that came on
the engine (which I broke the mounting flange) and the fuel
pump is a used one I also found on ebay for 20.00 So after a
year and a half of wrenching I refuse to give up so I plan on
buying a new fuel pump for a VH4D , a brand new carburetor
for a VH4D , new spark plugs. After putting over 5K into this
machine what"s another K ? I just hope with all these new
parts the problem goes away, I can"t help but wonder where
the issue was with the old stuff though? Some say if it idles ok
but dies when you give it gas, your not getting enough gas?
Who knows maybe a new fuel pump and carb correct with the
engine will work?
