what can cause diesel in oil

wow.. would have been helpfull had you actually included what machine you have!

could be anything from an unbrella seal leak in the injector pump, to a leaky return line if it runs under the VC like on a prior model ford diesel.

other possibilities too.

so far we have no idea what machine you have?

With out knowing what you have it is next to impossible for us to help you help your self. There is what maybe a good 250 different diesel engines out there and the fix for them is not the same

Start with the fuel supply pump on the right side of the engine block. If it has been replaced then the injection pump probably needs resealed as the drive hub seal is another place that can leak.
