New 6 v battery, generator just rebuilt still not charging... regulator bad?
Any Advice?

Yes the VR could be bad or you have not polarized the rebuilt generator

If you work through my Troubleshooting Procedure, it can diagnose the cause of non charging, 6 or 12 volt, Pos or Neg ground, be it simple like shes not polarized or if the Voltage Regulator is at fault versus the genny itself. See para 5 for a procedure to determine if the VR or genny is at fault.

motor test would have been the first thing to do.

that automacially voids the polarization question.

next is move on to full field and then jumpering out cutout.

gen systems are the EASIEST to troubleshoot
