Jd G clutch cover

The ones I did I took the pulley off and I have a large flat steel plate that happens to have a hole in it. So I take a pretty large ball from a ball bearing and set in the hole then set the pulley with rivet in it on the bearing. This firmly backs up the rivet and holds the pulley rim up enough so it can't take any force. I also think I held the spring clip in place on the rivet and kinda tight with some needle nose vise grips. Then all you do is just tap tap tap away at the rivet with the round end of a ball pein hammer. I used some rivets with a V shape on the head that set nice in the pulley and pre try them and cut to a decent looking length for peening over. Really gets tricky on the B models with the small pulley ! not much room to swing a hammer in there.
I have read where some people just bolt them in with machine screws with counter sunk type heads. I'd still want to peen the threads so the nut would not come loose.
