Has anybody else had issues with the quality of Dorman Universal 3 position push-pull headlight switches???
I put one on my IH 444 about 6 months ago and it was working fine, then about a month ago I notice that my dash lights were no longer working but did not give it much thought. Yesterday I went to install new headlights and the new headlights (tested before install) would not work.
Pulled out the VOM and found only 2.5 volts to the headlights -but- 12.61 volts to the switch. OK so I got a bad switch, it happens. Well so happens I am working on another tractor and had the same switch in a pile of parts that I just bought for the other tractor. Pulled it out and tested it found it passing voltage in the OFF position???? and had very high resistance to the "Taillight" contacts, The second switch is brand new?? but both are bad in different ways.
I put a old/used toggle switch in the 444 and now I have working dash and headlights.
