VH4D skid loader storage question

Hi all,

Few more cosmetic things to do on the skid loader then I"m
towing it to Alabama. Question is I"m going to wrap her up tight
and possibly build a plywood box around her on the the trailer,
she will be sitting for possibly a year maybe 2 it"s hard to say
when I can make it south. Is it ok to put fuel in tank with stable
run it a little and call it storage or should I drain the tank
completely? I plan to pull the battery , and cover everything
nicely before building a box around it. I mainly worry about the
carb getting gummed up and the jets and so forth. I figured just
putting stable in and starting it once a year would be ok am I
right?

I would pull the sparkplugs and squirt engine oil into all the cylinders then bump the engine over slowly. Then squirt some more oil on top of the pistons and replace the plugs. I think it would be better to drain the fuel and use it in your vehicles. Hal

The worst, and most commom problem, with Wisconsin
engines, is sticking valves. Don"t just squirt
oil on top of the pistons..look through the plug
holes, and, when you see the valves are open,
squirt oil down the valve stem,(or under the valve
head)...THEN turn the engine over a few times to
get the valve stem, and guides lubricated !

The guys have covered most of the things to do:

1) Shut off the gas and run the carb dry.
2) Drain the gas tank and carb bowl.
3) Remove the spark plugs and pour some oil in them and then turn it over a few times to oil the piston walls.
4) Remove the battery for storage or other use.
5) On the outside of the machine. Mix oil and diesel fuel at the rate of i quart of oil in two gallons of diesel fuel. Then take a hand sprayer and spray the outside down. This will keep any surface rust from forming.
