A little different type of restoration. Bought this old wood stave grain bin last spring, $150. Took it down in June, hauled it home and its now stored in the barn, in pieces, out of the weather til I get to it. Its going to look pretty neat nestled within the other old buildings on my 1886 farm.
The land-owner I bought it from said that back in the 60's his father and him took it down and put up a concrete silo. Originally 20 foot tall, they cut it in two and made two grain storage bins out of it. This one is 10' high by 15' round.
It has steel cables that tie it to the concrete pad. The barrel just sits on the slab so I would imagine that full of corn it would raise up and push out the bottom if not tied down.
