restoring a 1948 SC Case back to original. I was wondering if any one knows if the electrical system is 6 volt positive ground or 6 volt negative ground?

I have a 48 SC. They are not postive. they are negative ground. it is very hard to find a neg ground regulator for an autolite generator.

They are negative ground or my operator's manual has a misprint. They were a minority in that respect. Apparently they had a different electrical engineer from the other models because they are also the only Case tractor that used 14 mm spark plugs. Lee

Ya the 52 SC I had was in fact + ground till the guy I sold it to had me up grade it to a 12 volt system

I am sure all S and D series were negative ground. The V and VA series were postive ground.

I have a manual for a late SC. it too says negative ground.

I can only say what the SC I had was and it was + ground up till the guy who got it from me wanted 12 volt conversion and then it became - ground. It was a 52 or 53 do not remember which. It had the hand clutch and live PTO

Just because they should be - ground does not mean they all are since who know who has done what to what and I still stand by the fact the SC I had was + ground

just got back from the woodshed ,I stand corrected ,and must speak truth , dc and sc are negative ground FROM THE FACTORY,, NEW, vac is positive ground ,,, my dc and sc are upgraded to 12 volt long ago ,, what old has stated is very true about whomever swappin stuff around over 60 yrs ...
