Fuel pump question

Hello all, still working the bugs out, quick question I noticed a fuel leak at the under body of my new/ used fuel pump. It"s a fine line crack and fuel drips very slowly out. I came across JB Weld Water Weld it says you can use for fuel issues on tanks just wondering if this would work? I am currently bidding on one on eBay but until that one is mine I figured I would ask about this JB stuff. Second question is since my fuel tank is above the carb could I by pass the pump all together and plug right into the carb? Nothing has been simple on the project so far is this? Thanks y"all Scott

Did a little research and all fingers seem to point towards YES you can just do a gravity system and plug directly into the carb and by- pass the fuel pump all together, for the record the pump is a manual pump fuel in and fuel out that"s it. Thing that I don"t know is does a fuel pump regulate the fuel going into the carb at all? Would it be ok to simply go from the tank to the carb? Do I need to regulate the amount of fuel at all?

Thanks all Scott

Scott there should be no fuel below the diaphragm in the center of fuel pump or it is leaking.Yes they will gravity feed from a fuel tank but you have to watch the carb and make sure it shuts fuel off when setting or crankcase will be full of fuel!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Ralph, I meant to get on here yesterday to update my post, luckily I was able to build a working fuel pump using the lower body of another one and the top of the older one and thank god it worked, I finished up a bunch of small items and actually started the loader and moved it around a bit, a little more painting and misc cosmetic things and I"m loading it and taking it to our property in Alabama, look next week for photos of the finished product, it has been a journey. Thanks Scott
