Ford 600 starter problem

I am repairing/painting my Ford 640 that had sat in the weather for many years. When I was tearing it down to paint, the post on the starter that the battery cable connected to, broke off. can I get that piece without buying the whole kit for the starter? Starter worked great before the project started. Also, any words of wisdom on the upcoming 12 volt conversion?

ny starter/generator shop will have that copper stud & heavy enough soldering equipment to install it.

There is no bolt on option for fixing it? Is it bolted in? I was hoping to fix it without removing the starter.

ou said that it broke off.....so what is there to attach to?

Inside the starter that bolt set up is soldered to a big wire and unless you have the right tools the home type guy can not fix it since it takes one heck of a soldering iron to heat it hot enough to do the job

I haven't taken it apart yet,but I understand now. I will get it to a repair shop. Thanks, I will let ya know how it goes.
