JD 400 /Backhoe Hydrolic oil in engine?
How is it im geting Hyd oil in my engine on my JD 400 Gas engine back hoe?

Had some one said i could be the power steering pump? So I looked at the part exsploded view i see no seal?
I see some packing around the pump shaft ?

If i drain engine oil down to the full line.
Start over with in half hour of useing back hoe or loader the engine is full of hyd oil and start smoking?

Drain it and do it again same thing?

The VERY early models had a seperate engine driven power steering pump. your might be one of these ? If so pull it off and reseal it. May need a spedi sleeve on the shaft if it is worn.

The oil seal in the power steering pump is Deere # AR53048 and NAPA (SKF)# NOS 8707
