Assembly Grease

Would gun(chassis/farm machinery) grease be ok for tractor engine assembly?Or should I just stay with white 105 Lubriplate?

I would not use gun grease as it may not dissolve in the engine oil. Lubriplate will be fine. In tech school they told us to mix one quart of 30 wt oil with one can of stp(original flavor). I always pump some oil into the engine through the oil galleys right before startup to insure proper lubrication.

gun grease = plugged oil lines.

motor oil would be better than gun grease if you cant afford white assembly grease

In all the engines I have ever built and I have built a few I have used STP oil treatment on ALL of them and none have ever had any problems on start up. By the way when handling parts be sure you have some sort of oil on your fingers or you can leave finger prints on parts and on things like rod bearing that is not a good thing.
