Can it be saved?

My father passed away a few years ago and I have rediscovered his old Kubota L245DT which is around my age . . . alas, the poor tractor has been sitting out in the rain for a few years now exposed to well, everything

Is it possible to resurrect such a tractor, or is it now orange and rust scrap metal?

I know it mostly ran a few years ago

sure why not, people drag old tractors in from the fenceline and fix them up all of the time, replacement parts might be hard to find but she might not need a whole lot to get goin, tractors are built ruggedly and weather might not hurt it too bad. is the engine free? does it have oil and fluids in it? fuel in the tank, and good filters? someone here probably knows the right way to prestart a kubota &what to look for good luck

There are currently two of those listed on Tractor house. One at $5500 the other at $14,900.

You ask can it be saved. Well a lot comes into play. I have taken tractors that have sat for years locked up and had trees as big around as your leg and they now run and drive. It takes knowledge and time and being willing to do what it takes to bring one from being dead back to life.

the 245 probably had a belly muffler right? If no water got in the exhaust manifold you probably have a good candidate. Fuel system should be flushed if the cap didn't rot off. Don't expect that it's as valuable as they say but it shouldn't cost much if tires are ok. Just buttoned up a L 245 tonite that had an over running clutch go bad

Hi
I drag some crap home here, some you get lucky sat 20 years, change oils, clean fuel in battery on they fire up and run.
I get some sat 2 years, guys say it ran when parked. These want so much spending on them to run, they aren't financially worth the investment. Due to water in cylinders, frost cracks bad tires, bad electrics,or fuel pumps. some have more than one expensive issue to.
I would say anything can be fixed as long as you want to right the checks.

Please remember in reality sentimental value is never worth any way over the top restoration price, Many guys fall into this trap!.
Regards Robert
