I picked up an old wooden oak drag harrow; would like to restore, not sure how to even start. How do I get the original square spikes into the new oak cross bars?

This is your big chance to fit a square peg into a round hole, without a psychological exam! And YOU get to be the judge of the result! Experiment- drill a smaller hole. Hammer that sucker in....and go from there. Growing up in the 50s, we had a similar harrow- it was called a "Boss" harrow, about 20 feet wide, pulled behind a WC Allis-Chalmers. Center section was a trapezoid, and outer sections, each side, had the same angles to it. It was five sections. Moving down the road, we loaded it, plus the evener, on a trailer. Once, I cut the corner too sharp, hooked the evener, and pulled it over the rear tire of the WC. Dad was NOT amused!
