lo push power to 1987 JCB 1400B

This unit has low push or drive power. The ZF electric shuttle tranny
has 140 PSI F and R at solenoid valve. Suction screen and filter
renewed at transmission oil change with tractor HT fluid. I did
notice new oil seems to be milky as if frothing or H20
contamination. Perkins engine maintains 2000 RPM upon converter
lockup. Why do I feel its not pushing with much power even in low
gear?

It sounds to me like you have an internal leak that is allowing the transmission to slip. Take a sample of the oil. Put it in a glass jar(pickle jar works good). Place it in a pan of boiling water. In a few minutes the oil will separate out. If there is water you can see it in the bottom. If it is just air the oil will clear up.

If the oil is frothing than you need to go deeper into the transmission to find your problem. It could very well be a piston/oring ring on the forward and reverse clutch pack.

Hi
if you shuttle forward to reverse does it go back faster reverse than forward in the same range with no load on.
a friend of mine had something similar happen with his 3cx in the U.K. its basically the same machine only side shift Hoe, instead of center mount.

He said it was the forward side of the discs wear more than the reverse. backhoe loaders usually work harder pushing forward than reverse, is what he told me when he had fixed it, and found his problem.

Thanks for your prompt response!
Per your suggestion, I performed the transmission sample test. The oil did clear with a white layer at the bottom of the jar. I have yet to evaluate the transmission oil cooling system.
I still have 140PSI @ forward and reverse clutch packs. Could the presence of water contribute to the low pushing power, or may frothing also be a problem?

How do I get the contaminated oil out of the torque converter?

I have also noticed that upon torque converter lockup, there is no loss of engine RPM. Am I nuts thinking that the drive is performing poorly? In road gear, the slightest grade results in significant loss of forward speed, without loss of RPM.
