Hello everyone! I have a question about my F-4 Mag. I am restoring a F-12, I sent the Mag off to get rebuilt by Mainly Mags. Its now a HOT mag! (I found this out the hard way) The problem im having is timing the dang thing! I do have the service manual and tried multiple time to time it that way. MANY times!! I just cant get it close enough to run. I can get it to fire when the lever is in full advanced position. But will not run! I think the problem is when the manual calls for a nail to be inserted into the oil cup to lift a pawl to disengage the impulse. The only pawl I can see is the big pawl that butts up to the coupling. But the picture in the manual shows smaller a pawl on the opposite side, further into the mag. I was wondering if anyone has a picture, (not from the manual) that shows this step, and maybe of a picture of the points position for starting, and the correct 2 o'clock position for hitting on No. one cylinder. Is it suppose to hit on No. 1 frst? or is the first hit going to be on No. 3 cylinder? Iv been pulling my hair out trying to get this thing timed!! and before you ask, all the alignment marks on the gears are correct and when No. 1 is at TDC the flywheel mark is in the register hole.
Any help, Pictures, or any advise is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
