I have a 41 B john deere About to begin to restore What is the best recommended rust remover cleaner to soak carburetor in has been sitting for many years very rusy and fragile. Thanks

Those carbs need to be dissembled and all those ports cleaned with the correct size drill bits.Soaking does not clean the rust out. All those brass plugs have to be removed first. PB Blaster will help loosening parts. Ron Mn.

That's right, you can soak that carb in whatever you want to until the cows come home but it will not clean out the rusted up passages. They have to be drilled out with the proper size drill bits. Either buy the tools and parts so you can rebuild it yourself or send it out to be rebuilt.

I had luck a couple of times by removing the carb and cleaning it best possible by soaking in carb-cleaner then boiling the heck out of it in a ceramic-lined (or removable ceramic shell) kitchen crock pot. If larger use an electric turkey roaster. In both cases the removable ceramic shell lets you clean it back into the kitchen before it's noticed missing. If you add anything to the boiling water make sure it fully dissolves so no particles get jammed into carb passages. For God's sake don't try boiling any solvent or carb cleaner.

Someone posted awhile back about using toilet bowl cleaner. He showed some pictures and the after was pretty good. I haven't tried it so I can't confirm how well it works but it sounds like a good idea.
