loss of power in a 504

My 504 starts snd runs well. Recently it is starting to loose power. It almost cant make it up a hill that I used to be able to pull a load of wood with it. Now it hardly can make it by its self. Any ideas?

If it's the gas version you should do a complete tune up. New plugs, wires, points and condenser. Also make sure you're getting a full stream of gas from your gas tank at the carburetor. There may be a screen behind that tube fitting where your gas line connects full of rust and crud. If that carburetor has a main jet adjustment screw you need to open it. Check the fire to your plugs to see if its a hot blue spark. If it's yellow your coil may be weak. Hal
