I had low comm. on both cylenders so I pulled the head but could not get piston out the top, after I pulled the cylender off I noticed I good size ridge in the top of the cylender. Is this normal ,I miced the cylender and it was 5.502 and 5.510 can I hone them and install new rings the piston look like very little wear what is the alowable wear in cyleders before boreing?

First tool you need to use is a ridge reamer. All engines wear that way and to pull the pistons out you have to remove that ridge or you brake things which in turn causes more problems

The fact you have a considerable ridge, yet the bore is not worn so much farther back means the bore is TAPERED.

A tapered bore will make the rings move in and out in the grooves as the piston moves through the bore.

NOT good.

Probably time to rebore.

According to my book, the bore of an A is 5.500 inches. If your measurement is correct, you do not have excessive wear that would require reboring. Remove the ridge, hone the cylinders and install new rings and I would bet it would run for years. (Probably you are not going to pull a three bottom 10 inches deep all day anyway}

The ridge indicates it's worn a LOT more than .002". OBVIOUSLY he is measuring the bore a ways back, at an area of less wear.
