Cleaning a tank

I wouldn't worry about it myself. The problem comes with the definition of dry. Many on here will not believe that you are smart enough to tell.

A lot would depend on how dry the tank is. It would have to be dry enough to weld on before I would do it. The motor in the vacuum creates a spark and that's all it would take to ignite it.

That is how I got the junk out of my gas tank. But this was after sandblasting the outside and letting it sit a couple months.

I had also washed the inside out with acetone prior to sand blasting, so I was fairly certain most all of the hydrocarbons had been driven out.

All of that was in preparation of me welding on it, but I decided to not weld on it and do some other work to make a custom sending unit work with the stock location.
