NAA Amp gauge issues

I have a 1954 Ford NAA the old amp gauge was a flow through gauge two looms that the cloth wire went through to show your amps. I replaced the gauge with a new pos. neg. gauge. I cant figure out how to make it work ive tried everything
+ to +, + to -, - to +. I don't know what else to do. I looked for a flow through gauge cant find one. the 6v NAA is a positive negative and im lost at what to do please help!!!

Just cut the wire where it went thru the loop & attach one cut end to one ammeter post & the other cut end to the opposite ammeter post. If meter reads backwards, then swap the wires/posts.

a positive negative?

our school system obviously failed... :(

It's a positive ground. With ground reference being defined as what battery pole is tied to chassis. ( if any!! )

most of the new ammeters are 2 stud.

the 2 studs mount the meter and ar ethe wire hookups.. you have to use a plastic insulator and perhaps rubber grommets to keep from shorting the ammeter studs to chassis.

wire as jmor said...
